Before his time in Chicago, Rob spent 10 years as a national correspondent for Dateline NBC, where his reporting earned two national Emmy Awards—one for an investigation into military hazing and another for his in-depth coverage of the Elizabeth Smart case. He also received the Edward R. Murrow Award for his groundbreaking Dateline investigation into racial profiling in America.
Earlier in his career, Rob served as a consumer reporter and substitute anchor at WBBM-TV Chicago and anchored the morning newscast at WFTV-TV in Orlando, where he founded the station’s award-winning investigative unit. His two-year series on hotel crime exposed serious security lapses, prompted a grand jury investigation, and set a new standard for local investigative reporting.
Over the course of his four-decade career, Rob earned nine regional Emmy Awards in the Chicago and Florida markets, four Associated Press Awards, an Iris Award, and an RTNDA Award. His work continues to be recognized for its integrity, depth, and impact on the communities he’s served.
